Oscar AskUnit · design options
Each card is one build. The image below shows the answer card (toast) at the bottom of the page — that's where the thread bundle, Copy button, and View conversation live.
What to look at: the colored band at the very top of the answer card (where it says "● Thread · N" with "just now" on the right) is the part you said you liked. Some options have it, some don't.
Option A — v1 (a0fce18) original
HAS THREAD BAND
Colored Thread · 1 band at top of the answer card with green chip + "just now" + ⌄ chevron. Two Q+A pairs visible in the bundle (OSCAR + OSCAR · VIA MINIMAX). Copy + View conversation at the bottom of the card. Green "O" avatar in the bar. Bar sits in the page flow (not pinned).
Try live
Option B — v3 (b68e38a) last good bundle
SIMILAR TO A
Same as A but the dismiss X is in the role row at the top of the current answer (not the thread header). Works for both single and multi-turn. Bundle of prior Qs still shown. Bar in page flow.
Try live
Option C — v7 (176d76d) current live
CURRENT · NO BUNDLE
Bar pinned to bottom of viewport (always visible). Chat icon avatar. Status row above input (pulsing dots + timer + X). NO thread bundle in the toast — just the current answer card with X dismiss + Copy + View conversation.
Try live
Option D — what you want: A's bundle + C's pinning
PROPOSED HYBRID
Best of both: the colored Thread · N band at the top of the answer card (like A), the bundle of prior Qs in the toast (like A), Copy + View conversation (like A and C), AND the bar pinned to the bottom of the viewport with the chat icon avatar (like C). This is the design I'd build if you want everything.
(Mock-up: shows the thread band from A. The bar would be pinned like C.)
Option E — v1 mobile layout
REFERENCE
Same Thread · 1 band as A, but on a phone. Bar is full-width edge-to-edge. The thread band sits above the bar.
Option F — what v1 ACTUALLY looks like (no thread in your screenshot)
YOUR PROBLEM
When the LLM is cold, the first Q+A might show the canned greeting instead of a real answer, so the bundle never forms. Same in v7. To see the thread band, the LLM needs to be warm and Q1 has to come back as a real answer (not "Hi. What can I help you with?"). This is why you might have screenshotted a "flat" state and not seen the band.
